NACOMYO lauds Tinubu over Olanrewaju’s appointment

THE National Council of Muslim Youth Organisations (NACOMYO) in Ekiti State has commended President Bola Tinubu for appointing an indigene of the state and a member of the state’s Muslim community, Ibrahim Olarewaju, as his Senior Special Assistant on National Assembly Matters (House of Representatives).

The state’s coordinator of NACOMYO, Alhaji Oladele Yusuf, at a Hijrah lecture in Ado-Ekiti, expressed optimism about the capability of Ibrahim to deliver on his mandate in the interest of the country.

Yusuf also commended the SSA for empowering one person each from the 16 local government areas of the state, saying the gesture was a reflection of his love for his people.

The NACOMYO coordinator explained that the lecture marking the beginning of the Islamic new calendar year was meant to chart a new course for the Muslim faithful and emphasise the need for them to rededicate themselves to Allah and humanity.

Yusuf urged the state governor, Biodun Oyebanji, to fulfill his promise to offer Muslims political appointments and sense of belonging in governance.

He said: “Your Excellency, we rely on your promises during the campaign and at different forums that the Muslims will be treated well under your administration and be better positioned on political appointments.

“We equally want to use the medium to request for a declaration of Hijrah holiday like in the neighbouring states so that this programme will be held on such a date.”

On the significance of the lecture, Yusuf said: “Hijrah marked the beginning of an era, a civilisation, a culture and a history for the whole of mankind.

“Hijrah established brotherly relations, inter-community and interfaith relations, security and law and order among the creations of Allah, hence, Muslims should work for the goodness of the society at all times.”
