NIGERIAN Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA) and the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) on Thursday, organised a one-day free training for youths in Oyo state on how to export agriculture products and make reasonable profits.
Speaking with Tribune Online on the sidelines of the training which held at the Ibadan Business School, Bodija, Coordinator, NACCIMA youth entrepreneurs, Mr Segun Bolaji, said that the free training was put together to sensitise the youths on the need for them to key into exportation of agriculture and other products.
He further said that:” As I speak with you, we have a comparative advantage in Oyo State because Oyo state has the best cashew nuts in the whole world. Oyo state cashew nuts have the best KOAR and that is why the Indians are so interested in cashew nuts from Oyo State.

“In the first quarter of 2018, Nigeria sold N1.8bn worth of cashew nuts to India alone. Then I asked the participants when I was addressing them in the morning that did any of them sell part of the cashew nuts and they said no. That means other people are coming to Oyo state to take our products to export.
“We want the orientation of our youths to change from being internet fraudsters. They can make legitimate use of the internet by engaging in export business because the proceeds also come in foreign currencies. So that is what we are promoting.”
The representative of the NEPC at the event, Mrs Tayo Adetola, told the Tribune Online that the NEPC decided to sponsor the training because of its resolve to encourage the youths to engage in the exportation of products that are non-oil.
She further informed that part of efforts being made by the NEPC is to sponsor any Nigerian whose products meets the international standard to international trade fair outside the country. This according to her would showcase the enterprising aspect of Nigeria to the rest of the world.
