N150m: Unicef commend Jigawa

UNICEF has commended Jigawa state government for releasing N150 million counter part funding for tackling child nutrition problems in the state.

The head of UNICEF field office Bauchi Dr Abdullai Kaikai stated this during a mid year review meeting on child nutrition for Jigawa and plateau  state.

He said, ” I am glad to present before you a copy of the check to the tune of ‎N150 million approved and released to UNICEF as a counter part funding for the procurement of routing drugs  use in the management of child malnutrition problem”

According to him, with the released of the money by Jigwa state the activities at Centre for Management of Acute ‎Malnutritions managed by UNICEF will continue with supply of RUTF and drugs.

“I hope this will be another demonstration of government commitment in its collaboration with Unicef in tackling the manace of child malnutrition in the state”.

While commenting on the release the state nutrition officer Malam Saidu Umar stated that, with the release of the money and the unicef would put it’s resources which will help in saving not less than 18,000 malnourish children in the state.

He however revealed that, Nutrition program has recorded huge success in Jigawa state since it’s commencement in the state about 9 years ago and express hope that, the problem will soon be control to barest minimum level  ‎in the state.

According to unicef report Jigawa state is one of the states in the federation ‎with high rate of stunted children stand at about 64 percent.
