Speaking while addressing newsmen in Abuja, Baffa, said the Access Clinic introduced by the Fund in 2018 had increased the level of access of fund by the institutions to about 93.5 per cent when compared to the previous years.
It will be recalled that the current management of the Fund, introduced proposal defence and access clinic last year as a result of inability of many beneficiary institutions to access their allocations for one reason or the other.
Baffa said, “the Fund reaped the benefits of its 2017 projects proposal defence and access clinic for institutions in 2018 with about 93.5 per cent increase in access of intervention by beneficiary institutions from N69.18 billion in 2017 to N133.84 billion in 2018.
“One of the core mandates of the Fund is supporting beneficiary institutions with funding for physical infrastructure for teaching and learning. During the year under review, we have granted approval-in-principle for the commencement of 226 new projects in universities, polytechnics and colleges of education.
“We have disbursed 329 first tranches, 112 second tranches and 189 final tranches of projects across our beneficiary institutions landscape,” he said.
He, however, noted that 37 institutions applied for reprioritisation or unbundling of their projects, saying all but one were cleared and granted permission to reprioritise or unbundle.
He said the development helped greatly in addressing some challenges militating against completing the old projects in the affected institutions across the country.
The TETFund boss also revealed that the Board of Trustees of the Fund approved the enlistment of 16 new beneficiary institutions in 2018 after meeting all the requirements for enlistment.
