Myths about some Nigerian foods that shouldn’t be taken seriously

Most Nigerians are foodie. However, that doesn’t mean that we eat all varieties. While some, according to their tradition, shun some foods out of fear of diabolical repercussions, others see some certain foods as taboo in their local communities.  Here are some myths about some foods that shouldn’t be taken too seriously.

  • Eating okro makes one sluggish in progressing:

Due to the slimming nature of okra when grated, some believe that  eating okra soup would make one to progress sluggishly.

Health benefits of okro: they are rich sources of dietary fiber, minerals, and vitamins; often recommended by nutritionists in cholesterol controlling and weight reduction programs.

  • Snail draws back destiny:

Due to their slow in pace nature, some culture believes that eating snails will draw their destiny backwards.

Health benefits of snail:

  • They are rich source of vitamins too and highly and incredibly packed with vitamins E, A, K and B12.Snails are an ideal weight watchers diet because they are good sources of protein but low in calories and fat.
