We are yet to get facts or convictions on why the Lagos lagoon appeals or attracts death or suicide victims one at a time. I am not talking about accidental deaths, but intentional deaths by choice; that is, suicide. Sure, it can’t be because of poverty that victims who voluntarily drive their cars to the spot; high personalities like medical doctors, drive down and take their lives in the Lagos lagoon.
And there is no basic reason why a juvenile stowaway was an attraction one time in spite of risks to life. Similarly, the rise in cases of suicide, especially with the use of Sniper insecticide, has defied the logic of poverty or ignorance as a motive. It is clearer that what we need are good values to end vices.
