A man, Olushola Adebayo, has told Idi-Ape Grade C Customary Court, Ibadan North East, Oyo State to dissolve his nine- year- old marriage to his wife, Oluwafunmilola Alice, for refusing to lend him money to pay their child’s school fees.
Olushola alleged that his wife was irresponsible, troublesome and in the habit of fighting him.
He added that she refused to lend him money to pay their child’ school fees. Olushola thus prayed the court to dissolve their marriage.
“My lord, I am fed up with this union and all I want from this court is to dissolve it.
“My wife is irresponsible and non-supportive. She thinks only about herself. She refused to lend me money when I wanted to pay our child’s school fees.
“She is troublesome and was always fighting me. She refused to give me rest of mind.

“She packed out of my house two years ago with the help of her parents who joined her in packing her belongings from my house.
The defendant admitted the claim but stated that her husband was a brute.
Oluwafunmilola told the court she was the one buying foodstuff for the home while she was with her husband.
“My lord, my husband is cruel. He was fond of beating me in the middle of the night. He once hit me in the eye when beating me.
“He was never appreciative of all that I did but was always demanding for more.
“I’m also tired of our wedlock.”
Reacting to the allegation that he beats his wife in the middle of the night, the plaintiff told the court, “I didn’t beat her in the middle of the night but around 10: p.m.”
Olushola told the court he was a caring husband, claiming that he took care of their child and always gave his wife money.
After hearing the claims of both parties, the court president, Mr Moses Oyekanmi, dissolved their marriage and awarded custody of their child to the defendant.
The plaintiff was ordered to pay a monthly allowance of N5, 000 for the upkeep of their child and see to his education and health care.
