My son is a homosexual

I just discovered that my handsome and very brilliant son is a gay. Apart from this, he is a very good son who is doing very well at his work. The mother and I are heartbroken because we want him to settle down and have a family such as all his mates. Kindly advise me on what to do.

Although there has been a lot of efforts to change the sexual orientation of homosexual and bisexual people to heterosexuality, there are no studies of adequate scientific rigor to conclude that such methods are effective. In fact, it was concluded that such methods such as behavioral techniques, cognitive behavioral techniques, psychoanalytic techniques and medical approaches can even be harmful to the subject concerned. There is a large body of research evidence that indicates that being gay, lesbian or bisexual is compatible with normal mental health and social adjustment. Because of this, the major mental health professional organisations do not encourage individuals to try to change their sexual orientation. Having said this, since homosexuality is not compatible with well- known religious beliefs, a spiritual approach to the problem would be the only way out.
