Although I have had piles for the past ten years, I have been able to control it with diet and drugs. Now in my fifties, I am having constipation and the pile is getting more painful. Kindly let me know what to do about it as I don’t want to have surgery.

ANSWER

It is natural for one’s system to become sluggish as one ages. This may be the reason for your constipation. It is the constipation that makes you to strain during defecation with extra stress on your pile. The solution will be to engage in some forms of physical activities such as daily walks and exercises which will keep your body active. In addition, it will be helpful for you to increase your intake of your vegetables, fruits and roughages in your diet. Once these are done, it will be easier to manage your piles without any need for surgery.
