My Love And Passion For Music, Extraordinary – Berri

Published by

Emerging music artiste and Big Brother Records (BBR) talent, Agada ‘Berri’ Blessed, recently released his debut single ‘Fire’ and it has truly been heating up the music space. The teenage sensation, touted as one of the youngest fast rising Afro-pop singers in the music space, speaks in this interview with Segun Adebayo on his music and love for making extraordinary sounds.

Tell us about your latest song, Fire?

Fire is that song that inspires you to never give up on achieving your dreams and that great desire to do more in life no matter what life throws at you. It’s a song you would love to put on repeat as you listen to it.

What inspires you to write music?

I believe writing a good music is all about moments and environment in which you find yourself. However, what really inspires me is how I live my day with good and bad lessons from life.

What was growing up like for you?

My parents have always been very caring and supporting one to me and my siblings. Also, growing up under them was stress free and am grateful to God for giving me such wonderful parents.

Did your parents struggle with accepting that you wanted to go into music at such a young age?

Yes, obviously. But again, music runs in the family because two of my older brothers are DJs and one is a producer who produces most of my songs. So, my brothers already paved the way for me indirectly.

However, I think they have come to realise that my love and passion for music is extraordinary with the Nigerian entertainment industry thriving hard globally at the moment.

Who do you look up to in life generally and in music?

Well, like everyone else I look up to God, but in the music industry I looked up to Dbanj at the early stage of my life in the industry before Davido came into limelight. Now I look up to both artistes.

What has been your biggest struggle in the industry?

I am thrilled with the number of artistes that increases by the day and everyone is trying to create a niche for themselves. But I believe I won’t have much struggle with the support from my family, friends and my management team (BBR).

What do you do for leisure?

All I do is sing all day, but I love playing football.

Where do you see yourself in the industry in the next five years and how do you hope to get there?

Apart from disrupting the music industry with my good tunes, I would like to top the music charts globally with my songs and also collaborate with great artistes internationally. The only way to achieve that is by working hard alongside great support from my family, friends, management team and loyal fans.

Would you continue your education if you attain a good level of fame?

Definitely. My parents are strong advocate for education and no matter how the famous I get, education for me is a priority.

What’s your pet peeve?

Dishonest and fake people.

Who would you like to have a collaboration with in the industry?

Like I said earlier, I would love to collaborate with great artist like Dbanj, Davido and Starboy Wizkid.

Do you have any project we should expect soon?

Yes. I am really working hard to get my EP released soon.
