A woman, Dasola Sijuade has appeared before Grade A Customary Court, Mapo, Ibadan, Oyo Statewhere she accused her husband’s siblings of crashing his four previous marriages and are now threatening her.

Jadesola was dragged to court by her husband, Charles Sijuade on the accounts of neglect, abandonment and lack of love.

Charles in his testimony stated that he took ill and was incapacitated for long.

He also said that Jadesola neglected him, locked him up in a room and gave him no attention.

According to him, all that Jadesola was interested in was his money.

The plaintiff explained that the defendant took possession of his ATM card and was therefore in charge of his transactions, but that she was not faithful.

Charles explained that he derived no joy in his marriage to his wife and thus pleaded that their union be dissolved.

Jadesola pleaded not liable to the allegations brought against her, but agreed to divorce.

She also prayed for the custody of their children, while her husband is made responsible for their upkeep and education while among other needs.

Jadesola giving her testimony told the court: “I met my husband when he was still a junior staff with NEPA. He was among those carrying electricity poles. But fortune later smiled on him and then he changed.

“Apart from being a prophetess, I also run businesses which are quite lucrative.

“I sell jewelry and body creams and I am quite comfortable.  I, therefore, have no business with my husband’s money.

“It is true he gave me his ATM card when he took ill, but I returned it to him when he got better.

“I don’t know how much he collects as pension till date.

“My husband’s siblings are the major cause of the unrest in our home.

“He got married to four women before me, but they all left because his siblings did not give them rest of mind.

“One of his sisters boasted to me that she was the one who dealt my husband’s second wife. She swore she would make sure I did not enjoy my marriage if I failed to respect her.

“I made up my mind there and then that I was going to leave my husband, but he told me to ignore his sister and also begged me to stay.

“It is true that he bought a tricycle for commercial purpose and handed it over to my brother, but he lied that he knew nothing about the income it generated.

“My brother delivered to him N10,000 per week and this was known to his friends in our neighbourhood.

“My lord, I agree that you dissolve our marriage, but I plead that you grant me custody of our children.

“I have nowhere to move to presently. I, therefore, appeal to the court to rule that he rents a self-contained apartment for me and be responsible for our children’s feeding and education.

The court president, Mrs S.M Akintayo, adjourned the case till August 8.
