I did not reject ministerial nomination ― Ogbe

“My lord, it is better staying without a husband and living in peace than being hooked to a beast.

“I move around in our neighbourhood head bow because of the shame and humiliation my husband daily exposes me to.

“He constantly complains of paucity of fund and will leave me and our kid to starve.

“I’m tired of my husband’s reckless lifestyle. He drinks himself to stupour everyday and staggers home late in the night, banging the gate and waking up our neighbours.

“My lord, he not only drinks, he also smokes Indian hemp like a chimney. He smokes almost thirty wraps of this in a day. When he’s high, he pounces and descends on me with heavy punches thus leaving me with blood-shot eyes.

“Any time I made attempt at walking out of our marriage, he would threaten me with charms and vow to inflict me with madness.

“My lord, my life is no longer safe with my husband. He can make his threat real if I don’t run for my dear life, “Fatimo said.

Giving his judgment, the court president, Chief Ademola Odunade dissolved their marriage.

According to him, the non appearance of the defendant in court after two court summons shows he wasn’t interested in saving his marriage.

Odunade  granted custody of their child to the plaintiff and ordered the defendant to pay the sum of N4, 000 monthly as their child’s feeding allowance. The payment according to him must be made through the court.

The defendant was also mandated to be responsible for his education and health care.

The defendant was asked to be served a copy of the judgment.
