My husband is nonchalant towards my welfare —Wife

A housewife, Monsurat Suleiman, has filed for divorce at an Area Court, Centre-Igboro, Ilorin, Kwara State after two kids, accusing her husband of lack of love.

The petitioner told the court that the respondent did not take responsibility of their needs and that he had a nonchalant attitude towards their children.

She said that after the court’s first sitting, the respondent and his family refused to approach or call her for settlement.

The respondent told the court that efforts had earlier been made by his family towards settling their differences, but that she insisted on ending their marriage.

He said that he was not ready for divorce, except his wife insisted on it.

The presiding judge, Hammad Ajumobi, said that the respondent did not show any sign of seriousness and appeared not to be interested in their marriage any longer.

Ajumobi, however, pleaded with the petitioner to exercise more patience and allow room for settlement.

He advised the respondent to consider their marriage, the children involved in their relationship and take steps towards settling the misunderstanding between her and her husband.

Ajumobi, thereafter, adjourned the case.
