A housewife, Charity Ahmed has brought a divorce suit against her husband, Christian, in a Customary Court sitting in Nyanya, Abuja, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), on grounds of domestic violence and infidelity.
“My husband always beats me any time we have a little misunderstanding.
“He beats me almost every day and always targets my eyes. The last time he beat me, he damaged my eardrum, thus making hearing difficult for me.
“My vision is now impaired after he hit me with punches when fighting me, “she said.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the petitioner told the court that some time ago, she left her husband over domestic abuse, but he begged her to forgive him and they were reconciled.
“I don’t know that he will continue with his violent acts. He beats me in front of our children,” she said.
Charity also told the court that her husband brought in another woman into their matrimonial home.
“He told me the woman was his new wife. And he told me and our two children to move out of the house.”
The respondent, Christian, denied the allegations.
The presiding judge Doocivir Yawe, adjourned the case till February 16.
