My goal is to reshape realty industry beyond selling lands —Odion

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Cove Real Estate and Constructions, Ehichioya Peter Odion, is one of the promising young Nigerians making an impact in the real estate industry. In this interview, he discusses his brand’s vision, government’s role, and the future of real estate in Rivers State.

You are one of the promising young Nigerians making strides in the real estate industry, how did you discover your passion for this profession?

I discovered my passion for this field through a strong interest in creating value, addressing housing challenges, and building sustainable communities. The potential of land to appreciate and transform lives captivated me, and I realised this was an area where I could make a lasting impact.

Tell us more about yourself.

I am a young entrepreneur in the real estate sector, focusing on strategic land acquisition, sustainable development, and innovative property solutions that benefit investors and homeowners. My goal is to reshape the industry beyond merely selling land; I aim to sell ideas, opportunities, and long-term value.

You have publicly emphasised the importance of strategic collaboration in Rivers State. Why is this necessary?

As real estate developers, we understand that sustainable development cannot occur in isolation. Private investors and the government need to collaborate to ensure that Rivers State achieves its full economic and infrastructural potential. By working together, we can foster an environment that attracts investors, generates employment, and enhances the quality of life for residents.

You have specifically highlighted the Greater Port Harcourt Plan. What role do you see it playing in the transformation of the state?

The Greater Port Harcourt Plan is an ambitious initiative that, if fully implemented, will redefine the urban landscape of Rivers State. It has the potential to attract global investors, create numerous economic opportunities, and improve infrastructure for the residents. A well-executed master plan could position the state as a major hub for commerce, industry, and real estate investment.

How is Cove Real Estate and Constructions contributing to this vision?

At Cove Real Estate and Constructions, we are not just building structures; we are actively contributing to the overall growth of the state. We are developing high-quality real estate projects that align with the long-term growth trajectory of Rivers State. In addition to construction, we also educate potential investors about the vast opportunities available in the region, helping to build confidence in the real estate sector.

What key challenges have you observed in real estate development in Rivers State?

One of the primary challenges in Rivers State is the infrastructure gap. Without adequate roads, drainage systems, and reliable power supply, real estate development can be slow and costly. Another significant issue is the inconsistency in government policies, which can deter potential investors. If the government were to streamline policies and create a more investor-friendly environment, it would encourage more real estate projects and attract local and international investments.

What are your recommendations for the state to encourage real estate investment?

The government should prioritise urban planning and infrastructure development. By addressing existing infrastructural deficits and creating clear, consistent policies for investors, the state can implement forward-thinking strategies that will attract real estate developers. With effective policies, investors are more likely to commit their resources to long-term projects in Rivers State.

What message do you have for the Rivers State government and potential investors?

Our message is straightforward: Let us collaborate to build a better Rivers State. We urge the government to prioritise strategic urban planning and infrastructure development. At the same time, we encourage investors to seize the abundant opportunities available in Rivers State. By working together, we can transform the state into a prime destination for investment, economic growth, and sustainable development.

How does Cove Real Estate ensure sustainability in its developments?

Sustainability is a core aspect of our projects. We use eco-friendly building materials, promote energy-efficient designs, and ensure developments meet global environmental standards. By embracing sustainable practices, we not only reduce our environmental impact but also increase the long-term value of our properties.

What is your advice for young entrepreneurs in real estate?

For young entrepreneurs aspiring to excel in the real estate sector, my advice is to conduct thorough research and understand market dynamics. Building strong networks is crucial, as the real estate industry is highly competitive. With the right knowledge, strategic partnerships, and a commitment to quality, young entrepreneurs can thrive and make a lasting impact.

What plans do you have for expansion in the industry?

We have ambitious plans to expand our portfolio by developing additional residential and commercial properties throughout the state. Additionally, we are exploring partnerships with local and international investors to introduce innovative real estate solutions in Rivers State. Our goal is to contribute to the long-term development of the state while ensuring that our projects meet the highest standards of quality and sustainability.

When you’re not out in the field, what does your day look like? Specifically, how do you like to relax?

When I’m not in the field, my day consists of learning, strategising, and networking to stay ahead in this ever-evolving industry. To relax, I enjoy reading, reflecting, and immersing myself in nature. These activities help keep me grounded and fuel my creativity for the next big move.
