My entertainment app will end film, music piracy —Yannick Philippe

Philippe Yannick Iwuegbe, one of Nigeria’s multi-talents in the diaspora, is putting in efforts to eradicate two of the entertainment industry’s bottlenecks, piracy and identity theft.

A rapper and actor, whose recent works, an Ep of ten tracks, was released only on blogs and music websites, intimated Saturday Tribune during a chat of his ongoing project.

“I want to change the face of the Nigerian entertainment industry by working to prevent piracy of contents like music and film.

“ I believe this can only be achieved if we push all contents to the internet only. I want a stage where they can rely on only sponsored ads online without performing on stage to make a living.

“I want to create an app that allows you access to all types of entertainers on one platform. This is to prevent scams and fraudulent acts by unknown persons. The app simply assembles all the projects of the artistes as well as his real identity so that he has control of his work, his money and his identity online.All we need to do is work together to make this happen, “ he said.

And raising concerns about the future of the entertainment Industry in Nigeria without a definite plan to arrest piracy and identity theft, Yannick said it was a vicious circle of poverty if stakeholders do not rise to the challenge.

“I want to encourage the government and investors to promote the industry online because it is cheaper than traditional media like TV and Radio.

“Investors really need to invest in content creators to make and promote their products on social media which is the new world order.

“It can be accessed from anywhere in the world also making money for the creator or artiste. I also want to mentor younger kids planning to get into the industry. More efforts would be put in to promote them. My dream has always been to help and push the industry which I am happy is getting recognition gradually,” he added.

Philippe professionally commenced his music career in 2013 with rapping. But over the years he has been experimenting with different genres of creativity from making music to comedy and to film making.
