My dislocated shoulder

I have been having a dislocated shoulder since I was a Secondary School student. Initially, the dislocation was once in a while. However, it has become very more frequent in the last few weeks. My doctor has suggested a surgical operation to permanently fix the problem but I am worried about having surgery at 50 years of age. Kindly advise.

Surgery is usually required to fix an unstable shoulder joint as a consequence of frequent dislocations. This is usually after the doctor must have tried many non surgical methods. Surgery is often necessary to repair torn or stretched ligaments so that they are better able to hold the shoulder joint in place. Surgery through Arthroscopy can be done using tiny instruments and small incisions. This is a same-day or outpatient procedure. Arthroscopy is a minimally invasive surgery. Your surgeon will look inside the shoulder with a tiny camera and perform the surgery with special pencil-thin instruments. However, some patients may need an open surgical procedure. This involves making a larger incision over the shoulder and performing the repair under direct visualization. The surgeries will be followed by exercises. Which- ever method is used for you, you have nothing to worry about.
