My administration committed to creating enabling environment for businesses to thrive — Gov Aliyu

Sokoto Governor, Dr Ahmed Aliyu, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to continue creating enabling environment for business initiatives to flourish in the state.

The governor stated this on Tuesday while commissioning solar boreholes, school uniforms, and presentation of cement worth over 340 million naira to communities in Wamakko local government by the management of BUA Cement PLC.

Represented by the state Commissioner for Water Resources, Alhaji Aminu Dodo Iya, the governor commended BUA Cement for its unwavering commitment to corporate social responsibility.

He said, “Your dedication to community development is not only commendable but also serves as a shining example to other corporate entities to follow.

“The BUA Cement Community Development Project is a testament to what can be achieved when the private sector and government work hand in hand for the common good”.

The governor further described community development as the cornerstone of any thriving society in which initiatives that can address pressing needs of communities can be addressed.

He said the projects undertaken by BUA cement, ranging from infrastructure development, educational support, healthcare initiatives among others are vital in uplifting the concerned communities and driving socio-economic progress.

Earlier in his address, the Managing Director of the company, Engr Yusuf Binji, said with commissioning of 7 solar boreholes, distribution of uniforms to five primary schools, and donation of cement to communities, worth 343 million naira, the company has always given topmost priority to all issues that concern it’s host communities.

He said the company is committed to giving back to its host communities to add value to their common relationship, which is mutually beneficial.

“We, no doubt sincerely appreciate the enormous and genuine support as well as cooperation our host communities have given us over the years”.

He commended the governor for his support and unrelenting advice to the company, saying BUA Cement will continue to uphold and cherish its relationship with the state government.

The beneficiary communities of the solar boreholes include Illela with two solar lights, Gidan Bazamfare, Gidan Maituta, Gidan Gamba, Gidan Baduwa, and Almajiri School, Kalambina.

The company also donated 4,200 pairs of school uniforms to five primary schools within the community.

“In addition to these, we also have 50 solar streetlights installed at Asare village, 25 electric poles and wiring support to Gidan Yaro, and renovation of five toilets at Almajiri school in Kalambina,” he added.
