The Muslim Ummah of South West Nigeria (MUSWEN) has commiserated with the government and people of Oyo State over last week’s death of about 35 children at a funfair in Ibadan.
In a statement on Friday signed by its Executive Secretary, Professor Muslih Yahya, MUSWEN said it was disheartening that an event that was organised with the good intention of helping underprivileged children ended on a sour note.
The organisation beseeched God to console those who lost their loved ones and also the government of Oyo State over the loss of innocent children.
It implored those who might be planning events of large magnitude to always take all precautionary measures by providing for medical emergencies, adequate security, and proper planning for crowd control.
MUSWEN also condoled with the government and the people of Anambra State and the minister and people of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) over the similar losses they suffered arising from stampedes and prayed to God to console them.
“We beseech Allah (swt) to help avert situations that bring grieve to our land and save us from all calamities, Aamin,” the organisation said.
