Muslim schools tasked on improved performance

OWNERS of Muslim schools in Nigeria have been urged to improve their service delivery in the interest of the country’s educational and economic development.

The trio of director-general, Office of Education Quality Assurance, Lagos State, Mrs Ronke Soyombo; former director of Corona Schools, Mrs Folashade Adefisayo; and education consultant, Mrs Abibat Balogun made the call separately while speaking at a training programme organised by the League of Muslim School Proprietors, LEAMSP, Lagos State chapter, recently.

About 200 members of the group from across Lagos State participated in the annual training held in Ikeja.

According to the educationists, it is necessary for every school manager to take their complementary roles of producing future leaders very seriously with a view to achieving great results.

Speaking on school development and plans, Soyombo for example asked the participants to make their schools quality-assured and always monitor their students and relate to their parents, which she noted would bring about quality learning, moral upbringing and teaching.

While commending LEAMSP for organising the annual workshop, Soyombo, who was represented by a deputy director in her office, Mrs Adeyinka Adeniyi, advised them not to rest on their oars but intensify their efforts to produce quality future leaders.

On her part, Mrs Adefisayo identified four major stakeholders that every school owner must hold in high esteem and give priority to remain viable. These are: God, students, employees and parents.

She noted that school owners must give their best to students, remunerate employees well and reward excellent performers among them, and be kind-hearted and friendly to parents.

Earlier in their separate speeches, both the national president and Lagos chairman of LEAMSP, Messrs Taiwo Tijani and Raheem Fatai respectively, said the essence of the annual training was to sharpen members’ knowledge and skills for improved performance and competitiveness in the sector.
