Musicians should wait for their time to shine —Omo Lefi

Published by

Zacchaeus Oluwatosin, popularly known as Omo Lefi, is a gospel musician who just released an album titled ‘Divine visitation’. In this interview with Niyi Oyedeji, he speaks on his musical career.

What do you enjoy most about being a musician?

I see music as a connection to God. When I’m doing music, I enjoy God so much and I always see a better tomorrow in my music career.

What inspired your new album?

What inspired me on this new album is all about the track ‘Jesu Bemiwo’ which I composed last. It is a prayer song I love so much to request for God’s divine visitation and people were also requesting that I should use it for my album that they would really be blessed through the song. That’s why I tagged the album ‘Divine visitation’.

How many albums do you have now?

Just two for now; the first one was titled ‘Oyin Ni Jesu’ launched January 2019, which means that if someone is poor, barren, neglected or facing one tribulation and all that, Jesus is the only one to provide solutions and turn bitterness into honey. And I just released the second one last week. Meanwhile, it is God’s instruction that I should be releasing my albums in January, to prepare myself and the general populace for a special blessing.

What are the challenges you’ve ever faced as a musician?

They are numerous, like no support from people you think could be of help, financial disability to execute projects and the likes.

Who are your role models?

Don Moen, an American musician. When I listen to his music I feel God’s breath on me and that’s my desire too, that when people listen to my songs, they should feel God’s breath on them.

What advice do you have for other gospel musicians?

The best advice for others is to wait for God’s appointed time for them to shine
