A renowned musician, Bongos Ikwue, has urged the Federal Government to accord youth development a priority toward sustainable development in the country.
Ikwue gave the advice on Tuesday in Abuja when he paid courtesy visit to the Minister of Science and Technology, Dr Ogbonnnaya Onu at his office.
According to him, giving youth development a priority is paramount since they form the bulk of productive population in the economy.
He said that youths as leaders of tomorrow ought to be handled with care.
Ikwue said that his visit was to inform the minister of his “Mustapher and Christopher Peace Concept “.
“The ministry of science and technology will be the fulcrum of which this project revolves.
“The government must therefore adopt this peace concept and deliberately apply it through musical concept in schools and colleges.
“Also, the distribution of the CDs containing the rhythms to all students all over the federation by way of coordinating the efforts of federal ministry of education and other ministries and agencies.
According to him, Mustapher and Christopher Peace Concept “was drawn from rich Nigerian cultural values in consonance with Albert Einstein Theory of Relativity and basic principle in God`s creation towards advancement of humanity and peaceful co-existence.
Ikwue said that the rhythms were well articulated and strategically composed to be implemented with maximum efficiency to achieve the desired results within the matrix of time and space.
He said that the concept could be adopted to dismantle all forms of radical thoughts and negative influences emanating from the social media outlets that affect the habits of youths in developing their potential.
“It is absurd that in spite of our rich human and naturals resources, great number of the population are living in poverty as a result of restlessness and inability to meet the basic needs.
“We therefore solicit the support of the honourable minister with his scientific background and his wealth of experience in management to use his position to present this peace formula which is a brand to the executive council for immediate action.
“In conclusion, we strongly believe that Nigeria in spite of our security problems and other vices resulting from tribalism, ethnitism and human rights abuse.
“I will come up strong to become a united and peaceful country,” he said.
Ikwue said that he needed sponsorship from government and private organisations including international agencies toward the success of the concept.
Responding, the minister described Ikwue as a music legend, pointing out that “many of his albums have influenced our society positively”.
Onu promised that the ministry would support the concept and ensure the Federal Executive Council was fully informed about the peace formula.
