Adediran Adeyemi aka Sokid is an upcoming Nigerian artiste with a strong passion and potential to rock the entertainment industry with his rare talent in rapping and songwriting. In an interview with Niyi Oyedeji of tribuneonline, he reveals his passion about music and the Nigerian entertainment industry.

 

What is your perspective on music and why do you choose it as a career?

Music is what I love doing, perhaps, because I developed a passion for it right from my tender age. I love music because music is life and life is music and that’s why I dedicate my life doing it. Music has always been part of my existence in life and I have started doing it actively since I was 13 years of age.

What is your genre of music and what inspires your type of music?

I do all kind of genres of music, rap, hip-hop and all sorts. The fact is that the environment inspires my type of music most times.

Which artiste is your role model ?

Davido

What do you think makes your music unique?

I have a sonorous voice that is so distinct; it makes me reels out lyrics that are appealing to people’s hearing.

What has being your challenge as an upcoming artist ?

Finance and the struggle to release hit songs but thank God we are getting closer

Are you attached to any record label?

Not yet

Will you like to work with a record label and how do you think you can get a deal with them?

Yes DMW (Davido Music WorldWide). About the deal, I really don’t know for now but I wish to work with them.

Davido, Wizkid, Olamide and Lil kesh

Have you been able to work with any of them?

Not yet

What’s your vision as an artist?

It is to explore music frontiers and expand the industry. To break bounds, bag many awards, inspire and nurture talents.

What are your hobbies?

Playing games

Do you currently have any song you are working on and when will it be out?

Yes, I just released a song recently Titled ‘Zanga’ and I am currently making efforts to ensure it is heard across the world and social media platforms.

What inspired the song Zanga?

Zanga simply means hood. It is a freestyle name in the hood among my friends and I discover everyone around me really love the word so much, so I decided to sit down and cook something out of their favourite slang.
