Music is my dream, passion —Biddy Angel

Published by

We were all dreamers from birth and are typically reluctant, for most people, to abandon all else and devote everything to pursuing them, as there is always a cost associated with fulfilling a desire or goal. It requires work, commitment, drive, and most of all, resolve.

For Bashiru Nafisat Opeyemi, popularly known as Biddy Angel, it has always been music right from childhood.

The musician, business woman and a final year student of the University in Ibadan, revealed this in an interview with Sunday Tribune, stating that music for her is not a job or just something to keep busy with, but her love and passion.

According to Angel, singing for her started at a very tender age by imitating musicians.”I have had this passion for music right from my childhood. I do imitate artistes like Shola Allynson,Tuface Idibia and others,” she said.

The singer added that she began singing professionally in 2017 after engaging in some musical shows on radio.

“I started singing officially in 2017 when I released my first single entitled Parole. What inspired me was that I used to make phone calls to the lunch hour show by Oluyole FM 98.5 ,so I was selected as the winner thrice. We were always asked to imitate singers like Omawunmi, Yemi Alade,Tiwa Savage, among others..

“And I used to sing exactly like them. So this motivated me to release my own song that I have been writing for so long,” she added.

Angel also added that it is not an easy thing combining music, business and schooling. “It has not been easy because I am also into business. And there are some times I will be having examinations and there will also be shows for me to attend, but all the same, I try to combine them all.”

Furthermore, she said: “I have what it takes in the music industry because I have got the talent and consistency which is the key to success. I make my music in an African way. When you listen to my song, you hear me speak in my mother’s tongue. I have been able to meet with some celebrities in the entertainment industry,” she added.
