THE Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria (MSSN) has joined the global community in calling for a concerted effort against all forms of corruption, especially in Nigeria.
The MSSN made the call in a statement signed by its National Public Relations Officer, AbdulAzeez Oladejo, in recognition of the 2019 International Anti-Corruption Day, which was marked on Monday.
The body advocated the strengthening of the two main anti-graft agencies in the country, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) so that they could perform their tasks effectively.

“As Nigerian citizens, we should all make up our minds to stay by the truth, regardless of where our interests lie,” said the MSSN, which commended the anti-corruption efforts of the Federal Government.
According to the body, corruption is an evil which undermines the development of a nation in all ramifications but with the “untouchables” now being touched today in Nigeria, the people are being discouraged from engaging in corrupt activities, financial or otherwise.
The MSSN, which also joined in calling for the setting up of special anti-corruption courts so that corruption cases could be tried in a timely manner, urged the government to fulfil the implementation of public accounting system to bring about improvement in the public financial management.
