Chief Akande, his wife Omowunmi and Governor Rauf Aregbesola when she marked her 70th birthday in January 2014.
A former secretary to the Oyo State Government, Chief Michael Adeniyi Koleoso, has described the death of Mrs Omowunmi Akande, wife of the former pioneer National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as a colossal loss not only to the Akande family but also the Yoruba race and Nigeria in general.
In a condolence message personally signed by him, a copy of which was made available to the Tribune Online, Chief Koleoso said the news of the death of Mrs Akande came to him as a shock.
He described the deceased as a faithful wife and a loving mother who stood by her husband during thick and thin.
According to Chief Koleoso, “she was an epitome of humility, godliness and faithfulness. She dedicated most of her years on earth to the service of God and humanity. May God grant the entire Akande family and those of us who knew her the fortitude to bear this irreplaceable loss.”
