Primary and secondary schools across Nigeria have resumed. Parents especially those with children in public schools have become worried about how their children will get school every day as commercial vehicles and motorcyclists have increased transportation fare.
It is very important for the presidency to provide free public transport for students. Some students might not go to school as a result of fuel price hike. Nigerian parents are struggling to survive at this moment as the cost of transportation and that of commodities have increased.
The Federal Government of Nigeria is expected to provide relief to Nigerian students to cushion the effects of the fuel price hike. The children of the poor must be put into consideration at this moment. The current economic challenge facing Nigerians might lead to some students to drop out of school if the presidency fails to support them with free public transport. Many of the current Nigerian leaders are products of public schools. This government must not forget public school students as we have future governors and presidents of this nation among them.
