Motorists, commuters groan as fuel price increases to N650-N700/litre in Oyo

Motorists and commuters are groaning under the yoke of sudden increase of the Premium Motor Spirit, (PMS) otherwise known as Petrol from N500 per litre to N650 and N700 per litre as applicable in some filling stations in Oyo state.

Most of the filling stations visited by our correspondent were selling at the former rate of N505 and N520 per litre in the early hours of Tuesday but later jerked up the price.

Motorists expressed shock over the upward review of the pump price which is approximated at 15.7%.

The development has resulted in long queues at some filling stations that are dispensing fuels in Ibadan and its environs

The selling price as observed by our correspondent is not uniform as it varies from one station to another.

Major marketers such as Mobil, Total are selling at N605 other marketers are selling at N650 and N700 per litre.

Also, over 55% of the filling stations within the metropolis are strictly put under lock and key.

Affected stations as observed by our correspondent include; BOVAS, GASTAB and SAO filling stations.
