Mother, son arrested for brutalising 12-year-old girl in Kwara

Gender Unit of the Kwara state command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested a woman and her son for allegedly brutalizing a 12-year-old girl, identified as Sukura Suleiman.

The two suspects in the crime, Adamo Yunusa; aunt to the young girl, and her son, Saheed Yunusa, were arrested at their residence in Ile Oniponmo, Ayelabowo in Oko-Olowo area of the Ilorin metropolis.

It was gathered that the young girl was inflicted with severe injuries all over her body for allegedly stealing a sum of N2,000.

In a statement by the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the state command of the corps, Olasunkanmi Ayeni, the report was brought to the command headquarters by a concerned citizen who got the hint of the severe injuries inflicted on the girl by her aunt.

The NSCDC PRO also said that the two suspects in the matter would be prosecuted at the end of the investigations.

“The suspects alleged that the victim was beaten because she stole the sum of two thousand nairas (#2,000).

“The state commandant, Muhammed Tukur Ibrahim, urged Kwarans to be more vigilant and report any criminal act or security threat in their communities.

“He assured the state of the command’s readiness to respond to any security threat.

“The two suspects shall be taken to the court to face the law”, he said.
