“This child was brought to my ministry and the child has been handed over to me officially as the head of the department but the procedure remains that I have to go and make complaint at the police station so that tomorrow the parent or guardian will not Accuse us of stealing the child or abducted the child,” he said.
Meanwhile, Ms Nwali Joy, a beer parlour business lady in an interview with Tribune Online narrated how she picked the child.
” I saw the child in front of my shop crying so I called her and search for her mother but she was nowhere to be found and nobody agreed to carry her so out of pity, I took her to the Ishieke police station and they advised me to take the child to the EBBC and I got there they said they will not keep the child and they directed me to the ministry of Women Affairs.
”Many people have to tell me that I am in trouble for carrying the child I even took her to my village and nobody knows her. In fact, I am afraid now because I cannot afford to adhere to their advice to abandon the child and go away considering the period we are in now so that the ritualists will not use the innocent girl for their bloody money.
Since Friday last week, I have not slept well because she cries a lot in the night and I have not opened my shop. And she is a big liability to me,” she stated.
