Adebayo Alao-Akala
THE gubernatorial candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) in Oyo state and former governor of the state, Chief Adebayo Alao-Akala on Monday stated that if he is voted on as governor, churches and mosques in the state will not be paying any levy to the government.
Alao-Akala made this promise while receiving the Muslim Community in Ogbomosho and environs at his Opadoyin Akala Lodge, Papa Alapo in Ogbomosho on Monday morning.
“I am aware that religious organisations in the state now pay levies; this is a new thing and it is unnecessary. I promise you that you will not pay such levies under me. Things will be easy for the people of this state and workers will enjoy,” he said.

The Muslim community led by the Chief Imam of Ogbomoso land, Imam Adegboyega Asafa Sanusi, in the company of Imams from other communities around Ogbomoso, stated that it is their joy to see Alao-Akala contesting to rule the state, adding that they all know what he did for them during his first time in office.
They stated that even as a Christian, he had constantly been concerned about the affairs and welfare of the Muslim community even in the last eight years that he had left office, adding that they would work with him on his vision because they know he will do well for Ogbomoso land.
Speaking to the joint session of all Muslim denominations, Alao-Akala stated that he is aware that he doesn’t need to sell himself to them again, adding that he’s not a stranger to them because they are aware of his antecedents and what he can do.
He enlightened them on the need to vote their conscience and not fall for deceit, adding that they should not engage in violent acts but perform their civic duty and protect their votes.
