Moghalu tried his best to uplift Inland waterways sector — NIWA

Published by

The National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) has refuted claims by the Maritime Pressure Group condemning the performance of the tenure of the immediate past Managing Director of NIWA Chief Dr George Moghalu, labelling the group assertion has been untrue and an act of sponsored blackmail.

In a statement signed on Thursday by NIWA Spokesman, Jibril Darda’u, the Authority said that Maritime Pressure Group’s assertion on the four-year administration of Chief (Dr) George Moghalu is untrue, and an act of sponsored blackmail, considering the landmark achievements during his tenure and this is verifiable to the general public.

According to NIWA, “The attention of the Corporate Affairs Department of National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) has been drawn to an online publication on the four-year tenure of Dr. George Moghalu as MD of NIWA.

“It is a known fact that Chief Dr George Moghalu being a seasoned politician and a technocrat, did not hinder his official performance in NIWA, rather he has infused his experience, culture and innovation of the private sector leading to the success recorded in NIWA so far.

“And it must be corrected that Chief Dr George Moghalu being a law-abiding citizen handed over the leadership of NIWA to the most Senior General Manager on the exact date his tenure ended during working hours not in the night as purported.

“We will continue to reiterate that Chief Dr George Moghalu tried his best in the uplifting and development of the Inland waterways sector. He left NIWA better than he met it.”
