Modibbo Adama varsity governing council approves staff’s promotion backlogs

The newly appointed Governing Council of Modibbo Adama University, Yola, headed by the Chairman/Pro-Chancellor Mahmud Shinkafi (Former Governor of Zamfara State) has approved a series of promotion backlogs for university staff.

Just three days after appointing an acting Vice-Chancellor, the council demonstrated its commitment to improving staff welfare and institutional excellence by addressing promotion backlogs.

From the recent approval, 27 staff members have been elevated to the ranks of Professors and Associate Professors. These promotions reflect the outstanding academic contributions and dedication of the university’s faculty members.

Also 27 staff members have been promoted to the rank of senior lecturer. This advancement recognises their exceptional teaching, research, and service to the university community.

The council also approved the promotion of 35 Administrative and Technical staff to CONTISS levels 13, 14, and 15. These promotions acknowledge their critical roles in maintaining the university’s operations and infrastructure.

Seventy three (73) Senior staff members was promoted, highlighting their continuous efforts and commitment to the university’s success.

Furthermore, 82 Junior staff members have been promoted, ensuring that their hard work and dedication are duly recognized and rewarded.

This move by the governing council aims to foster an environment where merit and hard work are duly recognized and rewarded.

By addressing these overdue promotions, the council also aims to motivate staff, enhance job satisfaction, and improve overall performance within the university.

“This is a monumental step towards recognizing the hard work and dedication of our staff. These promotions are well-deserved and will undoubtedly inspire further excellence in teaching, research, and administration,” Professor M.I Ja’afaru stated.

According to one of the members of the council, Dr. Akin-Thomas Babajide “the Governing Council’s decision has been met with widespread approval and optimism among the university community. Staff members expressed their gratitude and renewed commitment to contributing to the university’s growth and success.

“The promotions are part of a broader strategy to ensure that Modibbo Adama University remains a leading institution in Nigeria, renowned for its academic excellence and robust administrative support.”
