11 Plc (formerly Mobil Oil Nigeria) has temporarily closed its recently engulfed station in Obafemi Awolowo road of Ikeja, Lagos State.
Tribune reports that the fire incident occured Thursday at 11 am at its Mobile Service Station at Obafemi Awolowo Way, Ikeja.
In a statement issued to newsmen on Thursday, the Company stated that its collaboration with Lagos State Fire Service (LASEMA), the Nigerian Police Force, FRSCand NSCDC effectively extinguished the fire.
The management noted its full cooperation with the relevant agencies to conduct a thorough investigation to ascertain the cause of the fire.
Meanwhile, it stated further that ascertaining the extent of the damage and implementing necessary measures to minimize the likelihood of similar incidents in the future.
“We regret to inform the general public that a fire incident occured today at 11 am at our Mobile Service Station at Obafemi Awolowo Way, Ikeja.
“Our immediate response team, in collaboration with Lagos State Fire Service, LASEMA, FRSC, The Nigerian Police Force and NSCDC effectively extinguished the fire.
“In the interest of public safety, we have temporarily closed the station until further notice.
“Our company is cooperating fully with the relevant agencies to conduct a thorough investigation to ascertain the cause of the fire.
“We are ascertaining the extent of the damage and implementing necessary measures to minimize the likelihood of similar incidents in the future.,” he said.
