The incident occurred at Akuru area on the Orita Challenge/Elebu road, Ibadan.
Tribune Online gathered from an eyewitness who craved anonymity that the Okada thief had successfully started the motorcycle engine and was already on the move when some set of commercial motorcyclists ran after him and was tracked down.
The eyewitness informed that they had wanted to hand over the thief to the police but some section of the people present at the scene suggested that the thief should be beaten thoroughly and be lynched.
He stated that it was when they spotted a team of policemen approaching the scene of the incident that they fled.
The body of the suspected thief has been taken away by the police to an unknown destination as none of the policemen was willing to speak with the Tribune Online.
