NO fewer than 456 health facilities have been designated across Adamawa to attend to women and children in the ongoing Maternal Newborn and Child Health (MNCH) Week.
The state Commissioner of Health, Dr Fatima Atiku, made this known Monday in Yola while flagging-off the week in Yola North Local Government.
Atiku urged parents and caregivers to take advantage of the week by taking children from zero months to 59 months to the designated health facilities for immunisation, deworming and receiving of vitamin A supplement.

“Other services include guidance on child spacing, ante-natal care, HIV screening and counseling,” Atiku said.
The Director of Planning of the Adamawa State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr Paul Margwa, said that the week was the second observed in 2018 in the state.
He said that the week was organised by the state ministry of health and the agency with support from the Federal Government.
Margwa said that necessary arrangements were made to ensure maximum success of the week.
The District Head of Jimeta Metropolis in Yola, Alhaji Mohammad Inuwa, called for mass participation of the residents in the exercise.
He gave the assurance that traditional rulers would mobilise parents for its success.
Inuwa also called for a clean environment as a preventive measure against diseases.
In their goodwill messages, UNICEF, WHO and UNFPA said that the week was important to the health of mothers and children.
They said that they would continue to support such a health programme to achieve the desired results
