The Murtala Muhammed Airport generally refers to as MMA2 in the aviation family has been described as a great success story of a pioneering Public and Private Partnership (PPP) initiative in the country’s aviation sector.
In a congratulatory message to the operators of the first private terminal which clocked ten years yesterday, GWX, a key and leading logistics company in Nigeria, reinforced the belief that if given a chance, that Nigerians can build Nigeria and make the economy to become one of the 20 greatest in the world in line with the Federal Government’s vision 20:2020.
GWX commended the board and management of MMA2 being operated by Bi-Courtney Aviation Services Limited (BASL) for successfully managing the world-class facility in line with global best practice in the past 10 years and subsequently setting the pace for airport and allied businesses growth in Nigeria.
MMA2, operated under the Public-Private Partnership concession agreement between the Federal Government and BASL, a member of The Resort Group, is the first successful privately-funded Design, Build, Operate and Transfer (DBOT) airport terminal in Nigeria.
According to GWX, “MMA2 is indeed a great success story of a pioneering PPP initiative in the aviation industry in Nigeria. It reinforces the belief that if given a chance, Nigerians can build Nigeria and make the economy to become one of the 20 greatest in the world in line with the Federal Government’s vision 20:2020.”
“We rejoice with the board, management and staff of BASL as well as users of the facility on the occasion of the 10th anniversary. We also congratulate the Federal Government for giving PPP initiative a chance to thrive in the industry.”
Speaking, the General Manager, Corporate Services, GWX, which runs BASL’s cargo processing facility, Mr Bright Aghogban, ensured that the company will continue to partner Bi-Courtney to raise the bar on air transport safety in Nigeria.
