Ministerial nomination: Group writes NASS to seek disqualification of El-Rufai

Published by

Secure Nation Group has asked the National Assembly to disqualify the former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai from becoming Nigerian Minister.

President Bola Tinubu had sent 28 names of ministerial nominees including to the National Assembly for screening which is scheduled for 31st July this year.

The group described the nomination of El-Rufai as unfortunate and should be stopped immediately.

Addressing journalists after submitting a letter to the National Assembly, the leader of the group, Comrade Emmanuel Godwin said instead of being nominated for ministerial appointment, the former Kaduna State Governor should be arrested and prosecuted for some crimes he allegedly committed while he was Governor.

“It is quite unfortunate that the immediate-past Governor of Kaduna state Nasir El-Rufai was among the ministerial nomination list despite his crimes against the people of Nigeria.

“It is on record that many Nigerians have demanded the investigation and prosecution of the ex-Governor at the International Criminal Court, ICC, if found culpable in the genocidal murder of many Nigerians as well as destruction of properties in Kaduna state.

“Surely, the nomination of the ex governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, among the ministerial nominees by President Bola Tinubu is a disaster to Nigeria.

“Nigerians haven’t forgotten the atrocities he committed when he was DG BPE(Bureau of Public Enterprises) and as FCT minister”, he said.
