Minister solicits support for Buhari’s re-election bid

THE minister of state, labour and employment, Prof Steven Ocheni, on Saturday solicited support for the second term ambition of President Muhammadu Buhari beyond 2019 to consolidate on the achievements so far recorded by the administration.

The minister noted that remarkable achievements were being recorded in critical sectors of the nation’s economy.

The minister stated this at Ajaka, headquarters of Igalamela-Odolu area of Kogi state while speaking with newsmen shortly after the peaceful conduct of the weekend All Progressives Congress (APC) local government congress in his area.

According to Ocheni, the president had exhibited selflessness in service, patriotism and genuine leadership qualities that have never been seen since the advent of democratic governance in the country.

He noted that the development had made the international community to develop implicit confidence and a positive disposition to carry out businesses in the country.

“President Muhammadu Buhari has shown through his various policies and programmes that he remains the best and a great asset for the country and beyond.”

According to the minister, the level playing ground created for all in the local government congress throughout Kogi state was another pointer to the leadership capacity of President Buhari.

“With this democracy has come to stay in Nigeria, and the All Progressives Congress (APC) has demonstrated that it embraces all democratic tenets capable of strengthening democratic governance,” he said.

Ocheni noted that the outcome of the Congress on Saturday was a pointer to the acceptability and love for the ruling party, saying the people had again reposed their confidence in the ability of Buhari to lead the country to greatness.

The minister applauded the people of the state for their maturity and understanding during and after the exercise, urging them to work in harmony to for the reelection of Buhari and Governor Yahaya Bello in next year’s general elections.
