Minister commends Peak Milk for renovating Stadium gym

THE Honourable Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Mr Solomon Dalung, has commended Peak Milk, from the stables of FrieslandCampina WAMCO, over the renovation of  the paralympians’ power-lifting gym at the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.

The Minister, who gave the commendation during the hand-over ceremony of the renovated gym, held at the Stadium, over the weekend, noted that the newly-renovated gym, would further enhance the performances of athletes, especially the nation’s para-powerlifting team.

“The newlyrenovated gym, which is now of world-class standard would further inspire athletes, especially our para-powerlifting team, to continue to push the limits of excellence by winning more laurels for Nigeria,” Dalung said.

He however called on other corporate organisations to emulate Friesland Campina WAMCO and the Peak brand by partnering with government, at all levels in the area of  sports development in the country.

In his remarks, the Managing Director, FrieslandCampina WAMCO, Mr. Ben Langat, explained that the decision to renovate the gym was informed by the need to use the story of the paralympians to inspire and motivate other Nigerians.

“We were inspired by the achievement of the paralympians, whose willpower, drive and self motivation to win against all odds, have seen them shine despite the obsolete and non-functional gym equipment facilities they had to use in the past. They have shown us all that, regardless of whatever challenges we face, with determination, we can always reach for our  peak,” he added.

Also speaking at the event, Head Coach of Nigeria’s para-powerlifting team, Feyisetan Are, commended Peak Milk for coming to the aid of the athletes by transforming the National Stadium gym into a world-class facility,  a development, he believed, would go a long way in enhancing the team’s training and spur it to more glories.
