Mimiko’s Labour Party return commended

Published by

THE massive crowd which welcomed former Ondo State governor, Dr.  Olusegun Mimiko, back to the Labour Party (LP), last Thursday indicated that the former governor remains a critical factor in the south-west politics, a socio-political group has said.

The group, OBA Osun State, in a statement signed by its publicity secretary, Mr. Isiaka Olumide Kareem, on Saturday, praised the former governor’s “deft exit” from the Peoples Democratic People (PDP), describing it as “a most calculated decision which drives home the Dr. Mimiko’s political brinkmanship.”

With the move, the group maintained that the Labour Party now offers the West a virile third political force capable of redefining the political landscape of the region as Mimiko emerges as a formidable rallying figure with immense visibility the kind not found in many of the political parties jostling for space and acceptance in the region.

It also described the immediate past governor of Ondo State as a worthy leader who has held his head high since he left office as he is not fingered by any of the anti graft agencies in the country for corruption.

The statement added that a volte face is an acceptable political strategy in the democratic world, the group called on the people of Osun State, particularly, the Ife /Ijesa people who make up the Osun East Senatorial district, to review their electoral disposition and voting pattern which have hamstrung

genuine development and real growth in the area for 19 years.
