Mimiko promises Mother and Child Hospital before Feb

Ondo State governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko, on Thursday,  assured  that  a Mother and Child Hospital will be built in Ikare- Akoko, before he leaves office,  even as he  flagged off a 4.7-Kilometre dualisation of Ikare-Akoko Township Road project in Akoko North East Local Government Area of the state.

The flag-off ceremony attracted prominent sons and daughters of the town, including the state deputy governor, Alhaji Abdulazeez Oluboyo,  the Olukare of Ikare, Oba Akadiri Momoh and the Owa Ale of Ikare, Oba Adegbite Adedoyin, among others.

Governor Mimiko, who used the medium to debunk  insinuation that his administration neglected the Akoko axis in roads construction, said  his government had already constructed over 175Kilometres of roads in the area.

The road project, which includes the realignment of “Oke Alabojuto” in Ikare, according to Governor Mimiko, would  put an end to the  incessant road accidents occasioned by the hilly and slippery nature of the road section.

The “Oke Alabojuto” through the central mosque at the city centre spanning about 400 metres ,would be focused and completed within three months being the first phase of the project.

The contractor handling the project, RCF Nigeria Limited, had  already moved all  the needed equipment to the site.

The governor listed some of the  road projects in Ondo North senatorial district to include 4.2Kilometres Oka Township Road,  29 Kilometres Ikare – Ugbe – Iboropa – Ise-Akoko Road, Supare Township Road, massive rehabilitation of Owo – Ikare Road, Akungba – Ikare Road, Oka – Epinmi Road, Ikare – Arigidi – Erusu – Ajowa, down to the boundary of Kogi State, among others.

GovernorMimiko, who assured that an iconic Mother and Child Hospital ,will be built in Ikare- Akoko before the expiration of his tenure, on February 24, 2017, said those who said his administration did not construct any road in Akoko area were  ignorant of government’s activities.

Governor Mimiko said the road ,when completed,- would raise the socio- economic well being of the people of the area and restore the enviable position of Ikare as the hub of commerce in the area. He said the  current economic downturn is one of the challenges that delayed his administration ‘s initial plan to start the project,  adding that the  project would be  made possible  through some financial re -engineering.

Earlier, the  state Commissioner for Works, Mr Gboye Adegbenro, had  said the road would be constructed in line with global best standard,  adding that the road will be in two phases.

The commissioner assured that considerable development would have been achieved on the road in the next six weeks and urged the people of the area to cooperate with the contractor to ensure speedy completion of the project.
