Military non kinetic approach in the combat of insurgency In Nigeria and the entire world

The Nigeria military has been erupt in their combat against the rising insurgency and terrorism in Nigeria. However the way and manner of tackling this deadly cankerworm to the peace and stability of this great Nation called Nigeria is embedded in both the Men and Women in Uniform (Khaki) and the Men and Women in non uniform (Citizens) this implies Civil Military Relations.

The conduct and operation of both the Civilian and the Military in a democratic Nation like Nigeria is guided by the Constitution. For peace to thrive in a Democratic society like Nigeria the tenate and principle of the Constitution needs to be uphold by the State actors.

There needs to be a guideline in all manner of operations within the Nation. That is why the social media needs to be monitored and guided by the government. Freedom of information and expression is one of the key element of a Democratic society, however in the case whereby the channels of Information is not monitored and it’s dissemination is not organized and coordinated appropriately, the people (Citizens) can orchestrate a disorder.

Using the Non-Kinetic approach by the Military, this implies the non use of motion (force). It means the strategic application in a friendly manner. In the case of rising insurgency in Nigeria (Boko Haram, Banditry, Secessionist agitation and lots more) The military needs to engage the civilian in getting information that will be useful in harnessing Insecurity and enforcement of peace within the Nigeria Federation.

The Boko Haram insurgency began in July 2009, when the militant Islamist and jihadist rebel group Boko Haram started an armed rebellion against the government of Nigeria.

What are the causes of Boko Haram insurgency in Nigeria?

It was discovered, among others, that religious, political, ethnic and economic factors coupled with corruption and influences from established terrorist organizations were the major factors responsible for the emergence of Boko Haram insurgency in Nigeria.

It is the Community leaders that knows the Men and Women in his or her Community very well before the Nigeria Military will come and drag a man from his house as a suspected terrorist, Bandit or Secessionist, concrete Information must have been received by the Civilians around him.

The private life of each citizens is what culminate into public affairs. As a matter of fact in civil military relations there needs to be a coordinated way of interaction. The Military should see themselves as the guardian and peace keeper that’s why they go on peace keeping mission in a Democratic society while the Civilians should be regarded as mastermind behind peace.

However it has been projected that World War III may start from social media. In the projection of information by the people through social media, the government needs to ensure that freedom of information is legalize with the sole aim of giving the people privilege to ventilate their opinion about security affairs within the state.

State actors must see themselves as agent of peace and order. There needs to be orderliness in curbing the rising insurgency in Nigeria, Africa and the World. If the World realize that Nigeria is safe and well secured, there will be foreign investment from foreign input. A Nation that is well secured and free from Insurgency is characterized as a safe state. Any insurgency that last for more than 24 Hours within a state while the government refuse to take a counter protection is been orchestrated by some forces in the helms of affairs.

Using the Taliban overthrow of government in Afghanistan as at 2021, it is worthy of note that may we not experience that scenario in Nigeria. In order to maximize our full potential as a Nation, peace and justice must be enforce and executed by those in power. Under Taliban rule, Afghanistan’s economy has floundered. Malnutrition has soared, and hundreds of thousands of jobs have been lost. Most women have been banned from working. The Taliban maintain close ties with al-Qaeda. Though their methods have varied and are likely to continue evolving, the Taliban’s intent has been consistent: to establish uncontested and unquestioned authority over Afghanistan’s state and society. The basic thing is that they want power. They’ve been fighting for power and if they can get it through talks, why not.”

What are the possible solutions to Boko Haram insurgency in Nigeria?

The study recommends that the government should engage in community-based dialogues and intelligence gathering, increased military operation and effective collaboration between the various agencies of government involved in the fight against Boko Haram for a lasting solution.

There needs to be a community based information center where there will be feedback mechanism to combat and curb insurgency in Nigeria and all Government across the world are advised to adopt this recommendation.
