The Old Students Association of Muslim Grammar School, Ibadan (1981 class), led by former Commissioner for Education in Oyo State, Dr Nureni Adeniran, has donated desks and chairs to the alma mater.
In his address during the presentation ceremony, Dr Adeniran described the donation as a token of the 1981 set to the school.
“This is the school we attended. My colleagues and I, therefore, decided to pool resources together to make the presentation. And this is just the starting point.
“We came up with the idea of chairs and desks because we know it is not possible for government to do everything, especially with regards to the education sector,” he said.
He urged other alumni associations to see what they can do to make education interesting for students, while charging students to be disciplined and respectful.
In his response, the senior school principal, Alhaji Adekunle Sarumi, said: “Some old students associations have promised us many things but they failed to deliver. But with the full support of the PTA, teachers and your association, the school has been progressing.
“We thank you for this gesture. If other old students can emulate your set, the sector as a whole would be the better for it.”
