Mercy Aigbe opens up on crashed marriage: ‘I’ll open can of worms if…’

It is no more news that the entertainment industry has witnessed the crash of another marriage. This time, it is between popular actress, Mercy Aigbe-Gentry and hotelier husband, Lanre Gentry.

The actress, who claimed she was advised to keep mum on the issue, broke her silence last Friday, saying that she could no longer the assaults and false allegations leveled against her by her estranged husband.

Mercy Aigbe’s husband, Gentry, has reportedly revealed that his wife has been suffering from psychological problem, saying that reports doing the rounds that he turned his wife to punching bag were not true.

According to Gentry, who spoke with BONonline amid reports that his marriage to Mercy had hit the rocks, “Mercy has mental issues and I am the one who knows how many places we have been to so she can remain stable, I have papers to prove this.”

“See, I understand her antics too well. All she wants is to be free to live the life of a single woman. What I have tolerated from her all these years, no man can tolerate from any woman.”

The mother of one took to her Instagram handle to tell her side of the story, just as she also threatened to sue her husband if he failed to prove the allegations levelled against her.

She wrote, “Dear Lanre Gentry, it breaks my heart that I have to do this, but as it is you have left me with no choice…I had sleepless night because I just couldn’t comprehend why someone I loved , someone with whom I have a child will be hell bent on destroying me, I just cannot comprehend it…I read with tears in my eyes all the LIES you fabricated against me, lies you feel will justify your inhuman act, lies you feel will gain you public sympathy and lies calculated to bring my person to public opprobrium… You claim: I am Mentally Unstable. That you have caught me with different men. That I do not take care of my parents. That a man rented an apartment for me… lies all lies…

“Dear hubby I challenge you to back up your claims with PROOF!!!…Hmmmm Lanre you forget quickly!…., you forget how I have labored and stood by you all these years, even though all what I was getting from you was constant beating, harassment, threat to my life and threat to destroying my image if I dare leave you. You must prove all your allegations otherwise God knows I am going to add another lawsuit to the one on ground! Although my Team has been pleading with me to stay silent all these while, but I have come to realize that you want to ride on my keeping mum.”

R, on Friday, also gathered that Aigbe was at the Area F police station to honour an invitation extended to her over the battery allegations she raised against her husband while her husband, Gentry was reportedly absent. Those who should know informed R that he was yet to return to the country as he’s currently on a business trip to Dubai.
