Meet Taiwo Adeyemi, a force behind iconic talents and brands

In a world where emerging business owners favour the mentorship of celebrated moguls like Dangote and Mo Abudu, Taiwo Adeyemi prefers to pattern himself after self-made mover, shaker and consummate deal-closer, Clarence Avant, ‘the Black Godfather’.

This is not surprising in the least with the kind of ecclectic empire his talent agency, Boxx Culture is positioned to build.

Oga Boxx as he is fondly called, is relatively different from the average brand creative, even though he kick-started his career as one.

“The best thing about my job is that it gives me insight into different industries outside mine. I get briefs from brands in politics, insurance, finance, aviation, advocacy, agriculture, education, technology, hospitality, you name it. Everyone wants to sell something, and being a go-to guy puts me in a position to understand the different dynamics of these industries and how to best sell them.”

Unlike the typical millennial, Taiwo Adeyemi seldom undertakes the path of least resistance with any project, preferring to prepare for the long haul; the unique makings of a futurist.

“We have a five year plan stitched together that will make Nse Ikpe-Etim one of the most desirable brands in Nollywood,” he confided.

On whether he was instrumental in brokering the dangote cement deal for Nollywood actor, Enyinna Nwigwe, an exclusive client of his, he simply nods and dismisses it with a smile.

The representation industry is a very close-mouthed lot. They co-create the most incredible products and outcomes but are content to ride it all from the trenches. Taiwo Adeyemi’s journey into talent representation wasn’t without a few well-positioned bumps on the road. To successfully get his folks off his back, he had to sign an undertaking that he would not return back to them for financial assistance for schooling.

They had done all they could, without much success, to reign in his boundless energy and restless mind.

He quickly left Ibadan and made for Lagos, using his skills in graphics design to earn a meagre existence, until he discovered 02 Academy; an advertising training school.

A chance meeting with Nollywood sweetheart Nse Ikpe-Etim, when he was creative director of the Africa Movie Academy Awards, opened up the next chapter of his career. After a few discussions, interspersed with bold ideas, they knew they were made for each other.

“Working on Nse Ikpe-Etim’s perception opened my eyes to the world of representation and I immediately knew I had found my niche .”

Boxx culture is Taiwo Adeyemi way of introducing his own unique spin to the world of representation; a 360 media agency creating opportunities for talents and brands.

The format is a hybrid structure that is both exclusive and non-exclusive.
