STUDENTS have been charged to build on the investment made in their lives, as they climb another academic ladder.
This was the charge given by the founder of Medmina College, Iyana Ajia, Egbeda, Ibadan, Alhaji AbdulHameed Mohammed, recently on the occasion of the 5th prize-giving and graduation ceremony of both JSS 3 and SSS 3 students of the school.
We give thanks to God for seeing the students through their secondary school education with outstanding results at SSS 2. “This is a peculiar set because their set made it the 40th students that have been graduated from the school.”
Mohammed also expressed gratitude to the parents who he said never get tired of investing in their children and also charged them to celebrate their wards’ achievements no matter how little it could be. He however promised to do more in terms of improving on the standard of the school which will be achieved with the support of the parents/guardians as well as the students. “All hands must be on deck.”
The Head of Administration of the school, Mr Muhammad Abdallah, admonished the graduating students to follow their dreams and believe in themselves, making reference to Oscar Wilde’s quote “Be yourself, everyone is Taken.” He mentioned that one of the unique qualities of the set is that they were always united- talked, reasoned together with the sole aim of achieving excellence on all projects they embarked on. “It is such a privilege to bear witness to how these fine boys and girls have grown in confidence, knowledge, kindness and faith and we hope that we have laid the foundations for them to continue growing as model Muslim ladies and gentlemen.
I am also very excited for the future of each of the students graduating this year. Good luck in the new chapter of your life.” The parents’ efforts were acknowledged when the Head of Administration said that the young men and women graduating this year are a credit to their families. “You are the vital component in your sons’/daughters’ education. The school value and acknowledge the support of the parent community. Without is, we simply would not have such a marvelous school.”
The Parents Teachers Association chairman, Alhaji Nurain Zakariyah, congratulated the graduating students and also commended the leadership of the school for being able to weather the storm in spite of many challenges the year presented. He however charged parents to fulfill their obligations on their children by giving them sound education. “We must fight to train and equip our children to be strong enough to withstand any form of pressure and still be relevant in playing roles as advocate of change.” Zakariyah stated.
In addition, the P.T.A. chairman asked parents for continued support of the school in all its affairs, making constructive and insightful critisism and contribution that can help move the school forward at all levels of education.
The head girl of the set, Farida Oladoyin Akanni, charged the junior students to aim for success, not perfection and that they should remember that fear always lurks behind perfectionism. Another graduand, Farouk Abubakar Umar who was the Dining.
Prefect advised the present and prospective students not to limit themselves but should go as far as their mind allows them.
There was presentation of awards and certificates, drama, spoken word and cutting of graduation cake among others.
