To start with, the recommendation you would need to fulfill your dream and vision is going to come from unlikely places and least expected people. This is why you are not allowed to be narrow-minded as a dreamer. While you are expecting a ‘Jew’ to do it, God can use an ‘Egyptian’ for you to get the job done. This is the problem of religious people in Nigeria: They limit their expectations to people who share the same faith with them.
Also, it is easier to know the meaning of other people’s dreams than to know our own, but the easiest way to fulfill your own dream and vision is by helping other people to find meaning to their dreams. What you make happen for others, God will make happen for you. Over the years, many people have been trying in futility to solve their own problems, but little do they know that in trying to solve other people’s problems, we get to get our own problems solved. This is a very powerful and life-changing principle. The money you are looking for is in solving problems for others.
In addition, there are relationships and environments that are toxic to your dream. For you not to abort your dream, you may need to both relocate and severe some relationships. Many have aborted their dreams because of the kind of company of people they were keeping. The kind of people you are sharing your walk with will either impact positively or negatively on your dream. If your dream cannot be realized in Nigeria, you may need to relocate to where it can be realized. Remember, your dream is your life!
Also, one man/woman is not strong enough to realize a dream. In other words, every dream needs relevant relationships and platforms. Please understand me that you do not need to walk with everyone before realizing your dream, but you cannot realize it without having some relevant people in your life. Remember, most of the platforms you’d need to realize your dream won’t be yours. This is why you need relevant people for relevant platforms.
You don’t have a dream and then go to bed, thinking that it would come to pass on its own. Many people have made this mistake and they are still making it. They have too far many beautiful dreams that they are not doing anything about. They wrongly believe that dreams do come to pass when the dreamers sit with their arms folded. To realize a dream, a dreamer will need to become a doer. Also, you may dream when you are asleep, but you can only fulfill it when you are fully awake.
Taking this issue a little further, on the dream that Joseph shared with his brothers and father, twice he was asked these deep questions, but he was unable to say a word. His brother asked: “Shall you indeed reign over us?” His father also asked: “Shall your mother and I and your brothers indeed come to bow down to the earth before you?” What do I want you to see here? One, leadership is not about reigning over others and it has nothing to do with people bowing to you! Everyone in leadership in Africa needs to understand this.
At this stage in the life of Joseph, he clearly did not understand the real meaning of his dream. If he had told his brothers that it was about them and generations unborn, hatred and envy wouldn’t have taken the place of love. You’d make many unnecessary enemies for yourself—when you think that leadership is about reigning over others and others bowing to you.
Also, resistance takes the place of synergy when a dreamer doesn’t know how to talk. Who is going to partner with someone who believes and says that his or her business would dwarf other people’s businesses in the days to come? Don’t talk about your dream—until you can de-code what it really means and you have the required level of wisdom to run with it. Many today are running with the wrong interpretation of their dreams.
Furthermore, one of the things a dreamer needs to learn is how to speak without shutting doors and making unnecessary enemies. How would you feel if someone under your leadership comes to you, sharing his dream with you, saying that one day you would bow to him? How would you feel when a lad in the family says that every member of the family would bow to him one day? Before you judge Joseph’s brothers harshly, think about it for a second.
Many dreamers are battling with envy and hatred where they are supposed to be loved because they don’t know how to speak. You want folks to buy into your dream? Then tell them what’s in your dream for them, not what’s in it for you alone. Also, you need to know that your dream is not about human domination, but human preservation. Leaders in Africa are dominating their fellow citizens, instead of “preserving life.”
Lastly, for the umpteenth time, friends become enemies when you misinterpret your dream, assignment and purpose. Remember, dreams are God’s assignments in pictures and you need to understand how to correctly interpret them. Buddy, when you share the wrong interpretation of your dream with folks and not the meaning of it, friends become enemies. You don’t tell folks that your dream is to become superior to them. When you do that, open doors will certainly become closed. Once again, your assignment is not about human domination, it is human preservation. God is not a tyrant and He is not raising one!
