Medical workers deliver free medical services to market users in Bodija

HEALTH officials from an Indonesian Pharmaceutical company in Nigeria known as Dexa Medica on Friday delivered relief medical materials to Bodija market in Ibadan.

The team which consisted of experts in general medicine and ophthalmology also carried out routine medical check-ups as well as donation of prescribed drugs and eyeglasses to traders and passers-by.

Brand Executive, Dexa Medica, Joseph Christopher, said the programme was aimed at improving the lives of people at the grassroots. He said that market areas were targeted for the programme due to the strenuous activities that take place there, as well as the economic situation which affects routine medical check-ups.

Speaking he said, “We realised that people’s engagements across different functions have significantly increased in the bid to stay afloat owing to the current economic situation in the country. The market environment is one of such places where strenuous activities take place.

“We have found that the activities take their toll on the people, especially traders, who rarely find the time to do health checks, because of the huge cost associated with it. Hence, the reason for an initiative like this, especially in the light of the recession, is to help consumers stay fit while saving up to cater for other areas of need.”

Market users received free ENT, hypertension, blood sugar, general body check-ups, as well as free focal glasses for eye correction and prescription at the one-day programme.
