A 51-year-old man Akinwumi Ajayi, was on Friday arraigned before an Ado-Ekiti Magistrates’ Court for allegedly obtaining money by trick.
Ajayi, whose address was not given is facing a charge of obtaining money by trick.
The police prosecutor, Sergeant Olubu Apata, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on March 5 in Ado-Ekiti.
He alleged that the defendant tricked one Omotosho Babatunde, and obtained cash of N235,000 from him.

He said that the defendant, who is a mechanic collected the money from the complainant to buy a new car engine, but bought a fake engine for him.
He said the offence contravened section 421 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.
The prosecutor urged the court to adjourn the case to enable him to study the file and present his witnesses.
The defendant pleaded not guilty.
Counsel to the defendant, Mr Kayode Akinwumi, urged the court to grant his client bail and promised that he would not jump bail.
The Magistrate, Mrs Kehinde Awosika, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
She adjourned the case until December 17 for hearing.
